Getting Started with KDE

Chatting with IRC

Many KDE contributors keep in touch by chatting on IRC. We use the server irc.freenode.net to connect. Some active KDE rooms on FreeNode are:

  • #kde
  • #kde-devel
  • #kde-edu
  • #kde4-devel

Connecting

You will need an IRC client to connect to the network. If you have KDE, ksirc or konversation may be included with your distribution. For Windows, mIrc is the way to go.

Once you start your IRC client, connect to the irc.freenode.net server and connect to the rooms you want by typing /join #ROOMNAME.
