After the BlueZ stack was updated to 4.xx, Sixaxis joysticks (from Sony PS3 console) stop working. There's some people on the bluez team working to make it work, but it seems that it could take a while.
So I decided to create a simple GUI that would use some patched 'hidd' that allows to connect Sixaxis to a Linux PC "out-of-the-box".

The app is called 'QtSixA' (It will be in 'Apps' -> 'Utils' -> 'QtSixA'). The GUI is now complete and has been tested to work in 32, 64bit and PowerPC/PS3 computers.


About Updates:
I plan to keep working on this until it gets more than functional (when no more features can be added)


About the Code:
The GUI is written in PyQt (python-qt4) and uses 'sixad' (written in C) to connect through bluetooth or a hidraw device. They're both released under the GPL v2 license and you can get the source code here: (check the trunk folder for the latest update)

Installation and integration in *x systems:

On Linux systems, PeaZip installer automatically create menu entries for KDE (on most versions); to add PeaZip to Gnome menu copy the "Archiving" folder placed in PeaZip/Freedesktop_integration/nautilus-scripts to system's Nautilus script's folder (in most versions open "Scripts" menu in system's context menu, and select "Open script's folder").

Qt widgetset packages requires Qt 4.3.4 or more recent, and needs libqt4intf.so installed in /usr/local/lib or equivalent directory (copy the file and run ldconfig; it is done automatically in installable packages), such as /usr/lib or /usr/lib32 on some 64 bit distributions.

On 64 bit systems, backend binaries in PeaZip/res path can be freely replaced by users with respective 64 bit counterpart (if available).

PeaZip Portable doesn't need installation and can be used from removable or remote paths without changing the host system (useful is system needs to stay library-freezed).
'Freedesktop_integration' folder in PeaZip's path contains .desktop files and Nautilus scripts to help users to configure tighter integration of PeaZip with desktop environment's menus.

In extraction interface it is possible to set a default extraction path; extract to new folder is now remembered as option of Extract action rather than being a separate action.

TeXamator is written in Python/Qt4. It is aimed at helping you making your exercise sheets. Basically, it browses a specified directory, looks for .tex files containing exercices and builds a tree with all your exercises. You can click on an element of the tree to have a preview of the exercise sheet and then add exercises to a list if you wish to. Then you can save your work to a .tex file or you can generate a .dvi file. Have a look at the screenshots (not up to date but they still give an overview of the programm) !

To use this program you will need :

To start TeXamator, extract the archive, cd to the directory and just type :
python TeXamator.py

Alternatively, you can extract the archive, browse to the directory and double-click on TeXamator.py but if you can, prefer launching it in a shell to see LaTeX running in the background.

The current version is optimized for iPhone and at an early stage. Any sort of feedback/suggestion is appreciated!

After starting the script just open http://[ip-of-your-host-running-amarok]:8080/ in your iPhone Safari browser. If port 8080 is already in use change "PORT" in "$HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/amarok-webui/conf.js"). The default credentials are login=foo pw=bar67#. They can be changed in conf.js, too.

I tested the script with Amarok 2.2 on Debian unstable.

KNOWN ISSUES:
- Some KDE3 distributions (like Debian Lenny) may still use an old version of kdesudo, which has a bug handling filenames with spaces, and unexpected results may occur. Workarounds: 1. uninstall kdesudo (and use kdesu instead), 2. avoid using root actions on filenames with spaces, 3. "bug" your distributors to update kdesudo to the latest. 4. build your own kdesudo from the latest sources.

Root Actions servicemenu provides a convenient way to perform several actions 'as root', from the right-click context menu in KDE filemanagers.

It aims to be distribution agnostic, if you experience issues in your distribution, drop me an email describing the issue.

The menu needs a properly configured kdesu/kdesudo to work (kdesudo is preferred, for some added functionality, like remembering password for a period of time...timeout is configurable by sudo settings)

Any comments, criticism and improvement suggestions welcomed :)

Included in the download are .desktop file versions for KDE3 konqueror, KDE3 dolphin, KDE4 (both konqueror and dolphin) and an importable user action xml file for krusader KDE4...see installation for details.

Version 2.3 ->
1. Uncompress the rootactions-servicemenu.pl script in Root_Actions_2.x to a directory in your $PATH. /usr/local/bin or /usr/bin are two valid options. Make the script executable (if it's not).

2a. (Konqueror for KDE3) Uncompress the three .desktop files in /konqueror-KDE3 to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus (This will enable the menu for individual users, if you wish to enable the menu for all users, copy the files to /usr/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus instead).

2b. (Dolphin for KDE3) Uncompress the two .desktop files in /dolphin-KDE3 to ~/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/servicemenus (This will enable the menu for individual users, if you wish to enable the menu for all users, copy the files to /usr/share/apps/d3lphin/servicemenus instead).

2c. (Dolphin and Konqueror for KDE4) Uncompress the two .desktop files in /dolphin-KDE4 to your kde4 servicemenu folder (possibly ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus). If you wish to use konqueror instead of dolphin as your filemanager, edit 10-rootactionsfolders.desktop by changing 'dolphin' to 'konqueror'.

2d. (Krusader for KDE4) Import krusader_rootactions.xml file in /krusader-KDE4 with krusader's action manager.

- Open Terminal Here (folders) - open a root terminal session in chosen folder
- Open in File Manager (folders) - open chosen folder(s) in file manager (default is konqueror)
- Open as Text (files) - open chosen folder(s) in text editor (default is kate)
- Open With ... (both) - open chosen items in a program of your choice

- Copy (both) - copy a single file or folder (ADDED in 2.1)
- Move/Rename (both) - if multiple items selected and a batch renamer installed (default is krename) start renamer, otherwise use a simple move/rename dialog
- Delete (both) - Completely removes chosen items (as this is potentially hazardous, there is an extra confirmation dialog), handy for removing back-up files etc.

- Ownership to Root (both) - change ownership of chosen items to root:root
- Ownership to Active User (both) - change ownership of chosen items to current user
- Ownership to ... (both) - change ownership of chosen items to UID:GID of your choice

- Change Permissions (both) - change permissions of chosen items
If only a single folder is selected, permissions/ownership can be set recursively. If changing permissions recursively, files are only set executable if they already are executable (Otherwise all files in a directory would be set executable if the parent folder is set executable, which is necessary for the folder to be accessible)

Demo of new matrix functions in Kommander 1.5x. Requires 1.5.3 for full functionality.

This demonstrates loading in a random data set as a 2D table and demonstrates some of the functionality offered as well as illustrating how to write some of the scripts. Remember that Kommander enables point and click script building with help for the novice user to create useful tools.

Matrix functions expand on arrays.

is supplemented by
matrix[\"key1\"][\"key2\"] = \"value\"

Additional functionality interfaced with widgets exceeds what you might expect from a flat file database paradigm. At least it surprised me. Enjoy!

Kommander 1.5 is the final special release in the 3x series. I resume work on the KDE4 version the last week of October. As to why this is still KDE3 vs KDE4 I was basically doing my apprenticeship in C++ and I needed fully functional design and plugins. I have 3 internal applications built with Kommander totaling 96 files and over 41,000 lines of actual script. I am very much intent on a vastly enhanced KDE4 version and porting this. I'm also planning on getting a KDE4 version of Quanta which can use parts built with Kommander.

This release is all about the little things I wanted, like being able to create a text report with links I could click to run scripts. This has the much requested menu button, There is extensive enhancement to widgets with special attention on Tree/Detail widgets and Tables. Widgets now can give geometry for use with popping up widgets and positioning them. There is also control of background color, for that special attention getter.

The applications I have written are used with databases 6 hours or more a day every week. The last new feature added here is 2 dimensional arrays. I have also included docs with this release. There is some out of date information but the new parser section is completely up to date.

Kommander consists of an editor and a program executor. It uses the *.ui files generated by Qt Designer and used by KDE and extends the simple preview to a full on interactive window using DCOP to communicate with widgets. Kommander is intended for non programmers and programmers alike as a rapid development tool aimed at the 80/20 rule. It doesn't do everything, but it does what you mostly need real fast. Kommander Plugins are easy to create and we have a lot of them. Please have a look as they are easy to install and offer great benefits.

The new parser is the default so you have variables and unlimited nested conditional statments. Some plugins require the new parser but you can run a mix of old and new by using #!kommander in new scripts in an old parser dialog. You can also use a shebang like #!/usr/bin/php to use other languages in a script widget. This also adds testing for the exec bit to prevent accidental execution of downloaded dialogs. There are now extensive help docs with the editor.

If you want to help translating the script in your language or update an existent translation follow the instructions from README inside script directory.

Notice:
- It's suggested to turn off other lyric scripts like default LyricWiki.
- Some ideas (codes) are taken from Glyrics, LyricWiki, Lyrix and Wiki-Lyrics.
- Serially web sites change themselves, which can cause the script stops working for the site. Script adaptations are required when a site changes its "template".
- Script can automatically (without google support) search only sites which URL can be constructed solely by artist and title.
- The script is usually installed in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/ultimate_lyrics/ or in ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/scripts/ultimate_lyrics/
- Defaults settings can be changed in main.js when GUI settings doesn't work.

Known issues:
- In Ubuntu 9.04 (Amarok 2.0.2) GUI settings doesn't work. Reason is missing qt4 uitools library. The bug is fixed in latest https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa. The bug was causing Amarok to crash. In order to overcome crashing it was necessary to disable GUI settings for Amarok 2.0.x.
- In OpenSUSE 11.x GUI settings doesn't work in some cases. Possible reason is an old Qt Framework (4.4.3 instead of 4.5+).
- The script doesn't work with qt-4.6.0-0.3.beta1 and qtscriptbindings-0.1.0-9 and cause amarok crash. The bug is probably in QtScriptBindings and cannot be fixed in the script. The bug is reported at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=529667 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211079.
